Heise Wins It In Overtime For Frost
Taylor Heise played hero scoring the overtime winner to lift the Minnesota Frost to a 2-1 victory over the Boston Fleet Wednesday night at the Xcel Energy Center. The Frost have won all three match ups against Boston this season.
Boston and Minnesota have played to a pair of overtime finishes this season, and played each other to a five game Walter Cup final to close out last year. The teams know each other well by this point, in what is becoming a chess match in each meeting.
"The coaching staff does a good job of making sure we’re getting our lineup out there that we need," said Heise of the match up. "Everyone knows what you’re doing, it’s just if you can get through that first wall of defense and attack when they’re not ready. We have six teams at this point, everyone’s going to know what’s going on and it’s whoever is going to grind and get down and get dirty is usually the one that wins.”
Hannah Bilka opened the scoring with her third goal of the season. Before the opening frame was out Minnesota's Denisa Krizova replied.
In the extra frame, Heise carried the puck into the offensive zone down the left wing before cutting across the high slot and shooting back against the grain to beat Boston goaltender Emma Söderberg who made 24 saves in the game.
