Heise Scores Twice As Frost Offense Continues To Sizzle

The Minnesota Frost lead the PWHL in goals by a mile. The reigning Walter Cup champions have 41 goals through 14 games. The 2.92 goals per game is tops in the league and has been a major part of Minnesota's success this season.

Sunday afternoon the Frost, led by a two-goal performance from Taylor Heise, put up five goals in a 5-2 win over the Boston Fleet. Heise opened the scoring in the opening frame with linemates Michela Cava and Kendall Coyne Schofield picking up assists.

After goals from Brooke McQuigge for Minnesota, and a response from Boston's Hilary Knight, Heise got her second of the game with Cava and Coyne Schofield picking up helpers again. Her goal would stand as the eventual game winner.

Early in the third Susanna Tapani pulled Boston within a goal, but Minnesota quickly responded with Katy Knoll scoring her first career PWHL goal.

“I would say it was a bit of a relief, I feel like I’ve been doing the right thing the last few games – as we all have – and I just hit a post or missed the net a little bit so to finally put that one in the back of the net was very exciting as you could tell by my reaction," said Knoll of scoring her first career goal. "Obviously, a great play by Soph (Sophie Jaques), I thought I may have been offside, but she kept it and made a great play.”

Midway through the third, Coyne Schofield got on the board herself to cap the scoring.

The win moved Minnesota into a tie for first in points with Montreal at 23. Montreal however, has three games in hand on the Frost. Minnesota hosts the Toronto Sceptres on Tuesday, January 28, while Boston is off until January 31 when they host the New York Sirens in Lowell.
