Heidi Gardner playfully notes life is great for Chiefs fans in ‘Sunday Night Football’ video

Chiefs fan Heidi Gardner in a video that will introduce “Sunday Night Football.”

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce owes a debt to Heidi Gardner for his burgeoning acting career.

Gardner, the “Saturday Night Live” star, pushed to have Kelce play host to an episode of the iconic show. Kelce’s acting opportunities took off from there.

Kelce is one of Gardner’s favorite players on her absolutely favorite sports team. Gardner is a huge Chiefs fan, so she was a natural choice to be featured in the opening tease for NBC Sports’ “Sunday Night Football.”

In the video, Gardner playfully talks about how great life is for Chiefs fans because their team has an 11-1 record and she winks at the chatter about how lucky KC has been this season.

“Life is really what you make of it like, well, being a Chiefs fan,” Gardner says as “Unwritten” by Natashia Bedingfield is playing. “You could think of it as entirely unpredictable or completely foreseeable. Unbelievably spectacular, or just the same thing over and over and over again. I’m talking about winning. Maybe everyone else gets tired of us, but then maybe do something about it. ...

“Just play the game. I know, it looks easier than it is, and honestly, we like it that way. It seems to confuse everybody, which really can be a lot of fun. The Chiefs and the Chargers on Sunday night in Kansas City.”

This video will air on KSHB (Ch. 41) and other NBC affiliates around 7:15 p.m. following Carrie Underwood’s “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” show open.
