Tottenham will visit Scottish Premiership side Hearts for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The match at Tynecastle will help commemorate the Edinburgh club’s 150th anniversary.

The two sides last met in two Europa League play-off matches in 2011, with Spurs winning 5-0 on aggregate.

Ins & outs at Spurs

It’s been a quiet summer at Tottenham so far, with only Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall joining as new faces.

On the other hand, Joe Rodon has left, along with Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombélé, Japhet Tanganga, and Ryan Sessegnon, all of whom have departed as free agents. The latest departure is Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott, who has joined Dutch club AZ for an undisclosed transfer fee, reported to be £6.7m (8m euros).

Parrott’s contract at Spurs was set to expire next year. He spent last season on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, scoring 17 goals in 32 games across all competitions.

“I think AZ is the perfect club for me to take the next steps in my development,” Parrott told AZ’s website., external

“It helps me that I already played in the Netherlands last season and am therefore used to the competition and life here.”

Parrott, who made four appearances for Spurs’ first team, has scored five goals in 23 international matches for the Republic.

Hearts vs Tottenham latest team news

Postecoglou will be without Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Micky van de Ven for the Hearts game. Romero, Lo Celso, and Bentancur were involved in the Copa América, and Van de Ven’s team, the Netherlands, progressed to the semifinals of the Euros.

However, new signings such as Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray could feature in the Tottenham XI against Hearts. Timo Werner will be available again after rejoining the club on a season-long loan deal from RB Leipzig.

Guglielmo Vicario, Radu Drăgușin, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg are enjoying a well-earned break after their Euro 2024 eliminations. It could be after the Hearts game when the trio returns to Hotspur Way to prepare for preseason.

Hearts finished the 2023/24 season in third place behind Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers, which qualified the team for the 2024/25 Europa League.

Steven Naismith is the manager of the Edinburgh side. The former Scottish international took up the role initially on an interim basis in April 2023 before being made the permanent manager two months later in June 2023. Naismith, the former Rangers, Everton, Norwich, and Hearts forward, had a successful first season in charge, winning 28 of his 56 games.

Lawrence Shankland is likely to be the key player for the hosts. The Scottish international has made 94 appearances in all competitions for Hearts and three appearances for the Scottish national team during the 2024 European Championship.

Yan Dhanda, Blair Spittal, James Penrice, Daniel Oyegoke, Musa Drammeh, and Ryan Fulton joined the club this summer.
