Plymouth Argyle manager Miron Muslic says Conor Hazard is his first-choice goalkeeper after recalling him to the side on Saturday.

Injury has kept the Northern Ireland international out of Muslic's side since he succeeded Wayne Rooney as head coach this month.

But the 26-year-old was recalled for the 2-2 draw at high-flying Sunderland in place of Dan Grimshaw.

Muslic was quick to praise Grimshaw, who he felt was not at fault for the 5-0 loss to Burnley on Wednesday.

"I feel very sorry for Daniel because you could possibly assume that I took Daniel out because we lost the game 5-0," he said.

"It was not Daniel's fault - not one goal was his fault and he was the best player just a couple of days before against QPR.

"But I also said to Conor that when I arrived I saw him as a number one and it's very important to have a clear number one.

"It's a goalkeeper, it's different, and I said to Conor because he was not 100% fit, he was doubtful and the head of goalkeeping told me we can always rely on Daniel.

"But to give Conor this confidence I told him and I gave him my word - 'look, you're going to recover, and as soon as you would recover you are going back to the goal', because I think that's important.

"In the meantime Daniel performs also very good, so I know now that we also have in Daniel an excellent goalkeeper, but I think it's important to have a clear number one - goalkeeping is all about confidence."
