MILANO – After arriving from Stuttgart in the summer of 1989, Jürgen Klinsmann was a key figure for Inter in the early 1990s. He, Lothar Matthaus and Andy Brehme formed a German trio that was decisive in Nerazzurri colours. As he celebrates his birthday, we relive his Inter career with a few fun facts.

TWO TROPHIES WITH INTER During the three seasons he wore the Inter shirt, he made a vital contribution to the Nerazzurri’s first-ever Supercoppa Italiana (1990) and UEFA Cup (1990/91) triumphs.

WORLD AND EUROPEAN CHAMPION At international level, Klinsmann was a real driving force for Germany: he won the 1990 World Cup (in Italy) and the 1996 European Championship with his country.

40 GOALS FOR INTER The German centre-forward found the net 40 times in 123 matches for Inter. Many of these goals were crucial, from his finish against Sporting in the 1990/91 UEFA Cup semi-finals and his solo effort against Juventus through to his acrobatic strikes against AC Milan and Atalanta.

Jürgen Klinsmann turns 60 today: best birthday wishes from FC Internazionale Milano and all the Nerazzurri fans.
