Happy New Year! 2025 could be another banner year for Florida Panthers

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2025, Florida Panthers fans.

The 2020 decade has been pretty kind to the Panthers, especially when considering how the previous three had gone.

While the first four years of the 2020s have been some of the best in franchise history, there are plenty of reasons to be equally excited about what the rest of the decade may bring.

You can start up top, with Florida’s front office.

It starts with the strong decision making of President and CEO Matt Caldwell.

In the time since Caldwell hired Bill Zito as Florida’s next general manager back in September of 2020, the team has been on a drastic and profound rise to greatness.

The personnel decisions made by Zito and his front office staff over the past several years have built the Panthers into a formidable, Stanley Cup contending team.

Then, the recognition and addition of Paul Maurice and his aggressive forechecking, five-man defensive systems have proved to be the perfect match to the group of players compiled in Sunrise.

Now many of those key players have been locked down to team friendly, long-term deals.

Sasha Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Sam Reinhart, Gus Forsling, Carter Verhaeghe and Anton Lundell are all among players who are signed for the foreseeable future.

Considering Zito’s track record, it will be fun to see what he’s got up his sleeve in order to keep Florida as the strong, championship competitor they have become.

While watching that unfold, it should be fun to see what transpires in 2025.

Stay tuned!
