The honeymoon is over for Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist.

The Golden Bachelor couple, who announced their split on April 12, had planned to travel to Italy in May, and Nist shared her excitement for the trip in an Instagram post in late January.

“Having so much fun planning and dreaming about our honeymoon in May to Italy…flying into Rome, spending a few days in Tuscany and then heading down to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast,” she wrote alongside a carousel of images showing scenic spots from those destinations.

“I’ve been to Italy twice, once when I was 18, and again to visit my daughter when she studied abroad there,” Nist, 70, added. “I can’t wait to experience it with Gerry!”

The couple’s Italian honeymoon was a gift from ABC, announced during the Golden Bachelor finale’s After the Final Rose portion, which aired Nov. 30. Nist and Turner, 74, had previously discussed visiting the country during their time on the show.

In an interview with AARP published in December, the couple were asked where in Italy they’d spend their honeymoon.

Wherever we want,” said Turner.

I’d love to go to Positano,” Nist replied. “The Roman south, because I’ve actually been to Italy twice, but Gerry hasn’t. I’d like to go to the most romantic parts of Italy. But anywhere in Italy.”

The pair said they hope the news of their divorce won’t dissuade other singles in their golden years from dating.

"We have received so much love and support from so many people who watch the Golden Bachelor and I don't think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope," Nist told GMA. "We want none of that to change for anybody."

"Don't give up," she added. "Stay in it. Stay hopeful. 'Cause we are."
