🚨 Hansi Flick's assistant at Barcelona confirmed by German FA

Heiko Westermann has been confirmed as Hansi Flick’s new assistant at Barcelona.

The German Football Association confirmed the news in an official statement, with the 40-year-old leaving his role as the national team’s under-19 assistant to take up the the position with the LaLiga giants.

Westermann, who made 27 appearances for the German national team in his playing career, will be joined in Flick’s backroom staff by his long-time colleagues, Marcus Sorg and Toni Tapalović.

Sorg previously worked with Flick at Bayern Munich, while Tapalović was his assistant during his short spell in charge of the national team.

Barça kickstart their new era with an opening day LaLiga trip to the Mestalla to face Valencia on Saturday August 17th.
