Barcelona are expected to make a great commitment to their cause this season. Last season was not much of a success for the club, and they want to make sure not to repeat the same mistakes. However, doing so will require Barcelona to have a competitive team this campaign.

Unfortunately, the Catalan club does not have the means to simply go out and buy whoever they want. Instead, they are forced to act with a bit more precision and a lot more research. Evidently, this has also meant a lot more responsibility for team’s youngsters as well.

However, not everything seems to be doom and gloom within La Blaugrana at the moment. Beyond just the fact that key target Nico Williams’s transfer seems to be on track, Barça coach Hansi Flick also seems to have found a pleasant surprise within the recent training sessions.

As highlighted by SPORT, 33-year-old Inigo Martinez has proven to be quite the aid and role model within Flick’s squad. He is the defender and player who seems to complete the training sessions with the most momentum and consistency, and that has stood out for the German coach.

In fact, his contributions have made him a key point of comparison and reflection for the other players. Often used as an example now, Inigo Martinez is Hansi Flick’s star signing of the summer so far and one of the few guarantees he is expected to have on the first league matchday.

This is a reality not just because of his great training efforts, however. Due to several other reasons, he is already cemented as a guarantee by himself. For instance, key Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is currently in recovery, while others like Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia are headed out for the Olympic Games.

Clement Lenglet, on the other hand, will likely have no future at the Catalan club. Alongside Martinez, however, Andreas Christensen is another guarantee for the new Barcelona coach. As for Jules Kounde, the Frenchman will most probably still be used as a right-back, especially due to the fact that Joao Cancelo’s future is still not a guarantee.

There was a lot of concern about Inigo Martinez before, but it seems to gradually be going away. Given his great efforts under the command of Hansi Flick, the German coach seems to value his stay and will likely see him have a certain level of importance in the upcoming season.
