Hansi Flick includes highly-rated cousins aged 16 and 15 in Barcelona pre-season squad

The case of Lamine Yamal has been a glorious success for Barcelona, and it has inspired the club’s sporting department to continues placing its faith in La Masia. Pau Cubarsi, Fermin Lopez, Hector Fort and Marc Guiu also played a significant role last season, and already, contenders are emerging for the 2024-25 campaign.

Hansi Flick is keen to assess may of Barcelona’s highly-rated youngsters, and there were several involved in the first day of pre-season. As per MD, two of the most notable call-ups were Guille Fernandez, 16, and his cousin Toni, 15.

Guille is regarded as one of La Masia’s best prospects, and many within Barcelona believe that he can follow in Lamine Yamal’s footsteps. Toni is also well-regarded, and he recently agreed a contract extension, extending his stay in Catalonia by an additional three seasons.

Guille plays in midfield, which is an area of concern for Flick at this moment. It could mean that he gets the chance to stake his claim for a first team spot in the coming weeks. Even if he has to settle for Barcelona’s B team, his progress will still be worth keeping a strong eye on over the next 12 months.
