Hansi Flick hopes to see the best version of injury-prone Barcelona player
Barcelona have great expectations from many of their youngsters as the season continues to go on. La Blaugrana know that their objectives for the season are to remain competitive across every competition, but that requires good depth. For that reason, every Barcelona player will have their own part to play.
That also applies to the players who have not had too much prominence so far either due to competition or injury. One such player who falls into that same category of players is Ansu Fati, the 21-year-old Barcelona prodigy who was always seen as the rightful heir to Lionel Messi’s throne.
Unfortunately, the young forward had to struggle with a lot of different things despite a promising start to his career. Mainly due to several injuries and physical setbacks, the Barcelona academy product seems to have taken a great hit to his confidence and continues to struggle because of it.
Hansi Flick, however, continues to have faith in the player and despite him being injury-prone, believes that he wants to see him at his best again and is willing to give him the minutes he needs to find that version of himself again, as revealed in his official press conference ahead of the game against Villarreal:
“I hope we see him at his best. When you come back from injury, you have to re-adapt. We want to give him minutes. He can help us a lot.”
The first step when it comes to giving him minutes came against Monaco. Even though Barcelona suffered an unfortunate defeat, Ansu Fati was able to play the last couple of minutes of the game and there is a belief within the club that these minutes will only continue to increase from here.
Given his record with injuries, it is perhaps for the best that Hansi Flick is not rushing the player into games. Instead, he will likely continue to come off the bench in the new few games as the player finds his footing again and his new coach at Barcelona is able to understand how to maximize his output.
