Hansi Flick explains Dani Olmo replacing Fermín López for Barcelona vs Espanyol
Barcelona had coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into the reasoning behind his decision to introduce Dani Olmo in place of Fermín López in his starting XI to face Espanyol.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action, in the first Derbi Barceloní of the campaign.
The Blaugrana headed into proceedings absolutely brimming with confidence, eyeing a 6th successive victory across all competitions.
As alluded to above, though, this did not stop boss Hansi Flick from tweaking his line-up for the clash.
Two leading members of the first-team setup in Catalunya’s capital – in Jules Koundé and Fermín López – were forced to make do with a spot on the bench from the off on Sunday.
And stepping in in their respective places were Héctor Fort and Dani Olmo.

Speaking to the media ahead of kick-off at Montjuïc, the subject of his alterations were in turn inevitably put to the aforementioned Flick.
And the German went on to provide an insight into Olmo replacing Fermín, explaining:
“Olmo is an excellent player between the lines and can score goals. That’s what we need today.”
