Halloween costume ideas from the NHL's very own

With Halloween approaching, it's crunch time for finding the perfect costume. Still don't have any ideas? Let these NHL players give you some inspiration:

Year after year Erik Karlsson single-handedly wins Halloween with his outrageous costumes. But this year he really outdid himself. The Ottawa Senators captain and his girlfriend, Melinda Currey, dressed up as Natalie Portman's white and black swan.

This isn't the first time the couple have turned heads at Halloween. This is them last year:

Toronto Maple Leafs star rookie Auston Matthews, teammate Peter Holland and friend Sasha Sheiman decided to take a more trendy approach. Holland and Sheiman dressed up as U.S. presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, while Matthews suited up as the viral Ken Bone. Not to be confused for Buffalo Sabres GM Tim Murray, Matthews added the mustache to complement the look.

2014 1st overall draft pick and Florida Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad decided to go as the classic 'Where's Waldo' character, complete with the big, round glasses.

Pittsburgh Penguins' Kris Letang may have a Stanley Cup under his belt, but that doesn't mean he's too cool to watch YouTube makeup tutorials. The defenceman goes all out as Bill Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Toronto Maple Leafs trio of James van Riemsdyk, Mitch Marner and Tyler Bozak pose together in their Halloween get-ups. Van Riemsdyk is Ace Ventura, Bozak is Zoolander, complete with the classic blue steele pout, while Marner goes with a more minimalist approach and just throws on some aviator sunglasses. Consensus seems to be he's a cop, perhaps a "kindergarten cop" considering how young he looks.

If couples' costumes are more your thing, look no further than Matt Duchene and girlfriend Ashley Grossaint as Bugs and Lola Bunny in a tribute to the classic movie Space Jam. They even have matching "Michael's Secret Stuff" water bottles.

Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin goes for comfort this Halloween in a classic inmate uniform.

Whether these costumes were for Oktoberfest or Halloween, seeing Buffalo's Sam Reinhart and Jack Eichel in matching lederhosens is funny any time of the year.
