Yahoo Sports Gwen Stefani’s throwback teen hairstyle is set to be one of summer's biggest beauty trends
Gwen Stefani's walk down memory lane is my... stroll down inspo avenue? Ok, maybe that doesn't quite work, but basically, Gwen Stefani just shared a throwback photo to her youth, and the pigtail hairstyle in the snap is going straight into my summer rotation.
Gwen began fronting No Doubt at just 17 in 1986, and it looks like this snap is from early days in the band and probably her late teens or early twenties. The fact that this photo is over 30-years-old is a bit mind-boggling. It's quite hard to give this a definitive age because she honestly hasn't changed a bit over all these years; and still rocks just as playful hairstyles, too (as she should).
Gwen is wearing her trademark peroxide blonde hair in two playground-style bunchies high on the head, with what appear to be glittery hair bands, hough it's hard to see for sure in the black and white shot. The two super long tendrils are that iconic 90s touch that stops it looking like full blown primary school cosplay.
We love a playground hair style, whether its Kate Hudson's double ponytail, Billie Eilish's plaits or Jennifer Garner's pigtails. Plus, they're set to be everywhere for summer 2023, as we all lean into our inner child while revelling in Barbiecore and Mermaidcore and all that good stuff.
It's time to get practicing without mum's help, because this is one trend that's going to be near impossible to resist.
