Climate change activists, including Greta Thunberg, just used a viral moment from the Barbie movie in the most iconic way – to help protest against the government's potential plans to develop the unused Rosebank oil and gas field (currently nothing is set in stone, but there are huge concerns about the potential CO2 emissions that choosing to develop it would create). Rosebank is the UK's largest untapped oil field and is situated 80 miles from Shetland.

After joining opposers outside of of UK Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps' office in London, Thunberg and fellow protestors Tori Tsui, Lauren MacDonald and Dominique Palmer, took to social media to cleverly use a viral Barbie sound to get their point across.

Standing in a row, recreating the iconic disco dance scene from the film, a soundbite plays over the top in which Margot Robbie's character asking her fellow Barbies 'Do you guys ever think about dying?' – only this time, the words on screen read 'Do you guys ever think about climate change?'. Touché.

The camera then pans to a confused-looking Tsui, MacDonald and Palmer, with the names Rishi Sunak, Grant Schapps and Equinor (the Norwegian company, that recently made record profits, in charge of developing the site) appearing overhead, looking bewildered at the thought that climate change is something we all ought to be seriously aware of.

Check out the brilliant clip here, on Stop Cambo's Instagram page:

Captioning the video is the words: "For a safe climate and affordable energy, richer countries like the UK must stop expanding oil and gas production. But UK ministers @rishisunakmp, @grantshapps and oil giant @equinor wants to open the massive Rosebank oil field. This one project would produce more CO2 than the world's 28 poorest countries do in a year. We can stop it. Find out more via @stopcambo."

This isn't the first time we've seen the pink pop culture reference be used to make a political statement either: TFL recently ordered that some certain spicy, Barbie-fied bus stop posters, calling out certain members of the government, be removed...

Honestly? We feel like Margot Robbie would be in full support of her now infamous line being used to highlight such an important cause.
