Grapevine product David Fry delivers game-tying, two-out single in MLB All-Star Game

Cleveland Guardians utility man and Grapevine product David Fry never expected to be an All-Star.

He built momentum in a strong second year as a pro to earn a spot on the American League roster as a reserve. Fry, a first time All-Star, played alongside the MLB’s best on Tuesday at Globe Life Field in front of family and friends.

In the third inning with the National League leading 3-2, Fry pinch hit for Houston Astros right fielder Yordan Alvarez with a runner in scoring position and two outs. He delivered a game-tying, two-out single to left field.

The former Grapevine Mustang stayed in the game as a designated hitter. In his second at-bat, Fry hit a pop up to Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner; Twins second baseman Willie Castro pinch hit for him in the eighth inning.
