Grant Gustin, Ryan Reynolds Nod at Their DC Hero Pasts in TV Spot

Ryan Reynolds’ latest venture involves advertising and numbers, but what really matters is that he’s enlisted the help of a former small-screen speedster.

In the above TV spot for MNTN, “a leader in advertising software that drives measurable conversions, revenue, site visits, and more” (per their website), Reynolds — who is the company’s Chief Creative Officer — invites The Flash star Grant Gustin, who portrayed the titular speedster/Barry Allen for nine seasons, to extol the service’s virtues.

Playing MNTN’s Chief Performance Officer, Seymour Roas, Gustin’s alter ego explains that “we believe TV should be bought, targeted and measured like search or social, the other performance channels.”

“That sounds fast,” Reynolds replies, before asking, “Would you say that people can see results in a flash?”

“Uh, yeah, I guess,” Gustin answers, earning him a prolonged, silent look from Reynolds. “Why are you staring at me?” a deadpan Gustin adds.

“I thought this would be more fun,” Reynolds admits.

As the spot wraps up, Reynolds is overheard saying, “You’ll always be my Barry,” to which Gustin replies, “You’ll always be my Hal.”

“That hurts, Seymour,” Reynolds responds. (The actor played Hal Jordan in the infamously panned 2011 movie Green Lantern, written by Arrowverse EPs Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green and Michael Goldenberg.)
