GOTTA SEE IT: Ovechkin Lays Classic Open-Ice Hit On Kyrou
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin isn't holding back in his 20th NHL season.
Not only does the 39-year-old have eight goals so far as he chases down Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record, but he's still laying the body and racking up hits to add to his already-impressive career total of over 3,300.
On Saturday against the St. Louis Blues, he added to that total with a massive open-ice hit on Jordan Kyrou.
With Aliaksei Protas and Kyrou in a battle for the puck, Ovechkin came in and bumped Kyrou, leaving his feet from the impact.

After the hit, Blues captain Brayden Schenn went over to retaliate, but upon seeing it was Ovechkin, backed off.
Ovechkin's 37 hits rank second in hits this season for the Capitals behind Tom Wilson, who has 42.
