“He got angry” – What Enzo Maresca said to his Chelsea players at HT vs Wolves
Chelsea beat Wolves 6-2 on Sunday night in what was a real turn around after going in at half time drawing the game 2-2.
Enzo Maresca is still very new in the job, but he clearly had some inspirational words to say to his players at half time to help the turnaround.

Chelsea won the second half 4-0 with ease and had so much more control of the game then after what was a very end to end first half where his side looked vulnerable at the back and in a defensive transition.
So what did Maresca say to his Chelsea players at half time to get them coming out in the second half looking like a completely different team?
He got angry
Our writer Simon Phillips has an insider article out on his Substack website today that explains exactly what Maresca said to his players, and there was quite a bit of detail in the rest of the article as well.
Phillips said:
“SPTC sources have heard that his half time team talk was hugely beneficial. He got angry, he ranted, he went at the players, and then he provided some tactical advice and tweaks. It wasn’t just an aimless rant, it had weight and he delivered his points in a stern manner.
“After he had a go at the players for a bad first half performance, he then instructed them to play with more control and reverted back to what they do in training on a daily basis.”
It certainly made the difference!
