Golfer John Daly just had emergency surgery in Florida. Here’s what happened

John Daly tees off on the 4th during the opening round of the PGA Barbasol Championship at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky., Thursday, July 15, 2021.

John Daly had his fans worried there for a minute.

The pro golfer posted a picture of himself from a hospital bed, holding a thumb’s up sign with a bandaged hand on Tuesday.

The explanation was in the caption: Emergency hand surgery.

Daly went on to thank his an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Frederick (Mick) McClimans, of Tampa Bay, near where Daly has a home, and said he’d be back “playing in no time.”

Though the 58-year-old dad of three gave no details about why the procedure was needed, commenters had a field day about why he was laid up and what could make him feel better.

Many folks ribbed the hard partying PGA great about his unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits. Over the years, Daly’s been called a “camel” on the links because he refuses to drink water.

The longtime smoker has also readily admitted his diet primarily consists of Hooters wings, peanut M&M’s and Diet Coke, and don’t get him started on vegetables.

“The Coke wasn’t Diet?”

“I hope those IVs have whiskey in em!”

“Someone gets this man a Goodboy [nonalcoholic beer].”

“JD drank a glass of water and this is the result.”

And, buried in the comments, was one of Daly’s favorite restaurants.

Someone from the Hooters account wrote, “Get well soon, JD.”
