Golden Knights' Top Prospect Expected To Return From Injury

Vegas Golden Knights 2024 first-round pick Trevor Connelly has dealt with a knee injury since Oct. 18 but looks on track to return to Providence College's lineup.

The 18-year-old has played just two games this season, recording an assist. The American winger was selected with the 19th overall pick and is an ultra-talented forward. He missed parts of the Golden Knights development camp with a minor injury but had healed before the start of the NCAA season.

In a matchup against Arizona State, Connelly jumped and landed on an edge which caused the ailment. It was a non-contact injury that he and Providence have been carefully monitoring.

Before joining the Friars for the 2024-25 season, there was speculation that Connelly could opt out of the NCAA and join a WHL team but those rumours were quickly pushed aside.

Connelly's return to the lineup gives him ample time to find his game before Team USA begins to make their decisions of who they want on their 2025 World Junior's roster. The Tustin, Cal native was invited to their Summer Showcase and due to his strong track record with Team USA at international events, is a favourite to make the roster.

At the U-18s prior to the draft, Connelly scored four goals and nine points in seven games en route to a silver medal.

With an important weekend against Northeastern, Connelly's return will boost Providence's roster but he'll have to be at his best to pick up a pair of wins.
