Golden Knights Prospect Nominated For The Hobey Baker

Vegas Golden Knights prospect Abram Wiebe has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award.

Playing for the University of North Dakota, the 21-year-old defenseman has recorded four goals and 17 points in 23 games during his sophomore season.

The Golden Knights drafted Wiebe in the seventh round (209th overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Listed at 6'2, 187 lbs, Wiebe has the physical frame of a modern-day defenseman and used his build to improve his all-around game.

In his freshman season, the Mission, BC native scored just one goal and 10 points in 40 games. His ice time has increased in his sophomore year and his game has elevated.

The Hobey Baker Award is given to the best player in Men's College Hockey. Wiebe was nominated alongside teammates Sasha Boisvert, a Chicago Blackhawks prospect and Jake Livanavage. North Dakota ranks 16th in the NCAA and are hoping to earn an opportunity to compete for a National Championship.
