Golden Knights Hoping To Build Momentum Against Stars
The Vegas Golden Knights picked up a big win against the St. Louis Blues and are hoping to carry the momentum into tonight's game against the Dallas Stars.
Mark Stone, Victor Olofsson and Pavel Dorofeyev picked up vital goals against the Blues before Tomas Hertl ensured the two points with an empty netter. The goal extended Hertl's goalscoring streak to four games.

With both William Karlsson and Brett Howden out, the players spoke about the importance of stepping up their performances. One of those players was Olofsson and his first-period tally helped the Golden Knights extend their lead. The marker was his 11th goal of the season in just 27 games, a 33-goal pace over an 82-game season.

Tonight's opponents are a familiar foe but also a step up in difficulty compared to the Blues. The Stars enter tonight's contest with a 29-17-1 record, good enough for 59 points and fifth in the Western Conference. They have just five fewer points than the Golden Knights but have a game in hand.
The Stars remain one of the most unique teams in the NHL. Their leading scorer, Matt Duchene, is under a point per game and their leading goal scorer has yet to eclipse 20 goals. Despite that, they score the 10th most goals per game and roster seven players with 10 or more goals and 11 players with 20 or more points.
These two are stars! 🌟

Defensively, the Stars are one of the league's best. They are fourth in goals against per game, fifth in shots against per game, and first in penalty kill percentage.
The Golden Knights and Stars have met just once this season after the Stars prevailed in Game 7 in the playoffs last spring. The pair will meet again on Jan. 28 in Vegas for their final matchup of the season.
Ilya Samsonov started last night's game to allow Adin Hill to start tonight's affair. He'll be battling Jake Oettinger, an opponent he has become very familiar with.
Puck drop is at 4:30 P.M. PST at American Airlines Center.
