Golden Knights Forward Considered Day-To-Day; Defenseman Close To Non-Contact Return

Vegas Golden Knights forward Ivan Barbashev is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury, and Ben Hutton has been skating on his own and is nearing a return to practice in a non-contact jersey.

Barbashev sustained his injury against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday when he got tangled up with Marcus Foligno and hit the ice hard. He exited the game in the second period and did not return.

Hutton has been injured since Nov. 17 and was placed on the long-term injury reserve just two days later. The 31-year-old has been serving as a depth defenseman, playing just five games.

With the Golden Knights' defence core all healthy at the moment, the coaching staff won't be feeling any pressure to rush Hutton back and remove him from the LTIR. He can take all the time he needs to be at 100% when the Golden Knights are in need of him.

Nicolas Roy took a maintenance day on Tuesday but is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Vancouver Canucks. The 27-year-old has scored six goals and 13 points in 31 games as a versatile forward playing up and down the lineup, on the wing and as a centre.
