Golden Knights' Cole Schwindt To Be Out Against The Blues

Vegas Golden Knights forward Cole Schwindt will be out with a lower-body injury today when they take on the St. Louis Blues.

The 23-year-old has played in 38 games this year, recording seven assists. He's still in search of his first NHL goal but Schwindt has impressed both HC Bruce Cassidy and GM Kelly McCrimmon. He's found a role in the Golden Knights' bottom six and has become dependable despite averaging just 9:21 of ice.

Unfortunately for Schwindt, he suffered a lower-body injury against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday and will be replaced by 22-year-old Alexander Holtz. Drafted as a sniper, the expectation for Holtz during his time with the New Jersey Devils and now the Golden Knights was to score a lot of goals but that hasn't worked out for him.

In 44 games he's scored just three goals and 10 points and doesn't have the complete trust of Cassidy to play in every scenario. The Golden Knights are looking for Holtz to be responsible on the defensive side of the puck but also creative offensively. He is too often in non-threatening scoring situations and positions himself in areas where he can't show off his dangerous shot.

Holtz will be playing with William Karlsson and Brett Howden and could get the opportunity to show what he can do offensively.
