Golden Knights Captain Out For Tonight's Matchup Against Hurricanes
Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone will be out of the line tonight when they host the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Golden Knights picked up three out of four points on their brief two-game road trip with a win over the Edmonton Oilers and an overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken. They did so without Ilya Samsonov for both encounters and without Stone against the Kraken.
Stone picked up his lower-body injury when he scored the game-clinching empty-net goal against the Oilers. HC Bruce Cassidy spoke to the media ahead of tonight's game to provide an update on the 32-year-old. He mentioned that Stone will indeed be out for tonight's game but is not ruling him out for the upcoming road trip. He said off the top of his head he thinks Stone will be on it, but he is not positive yet.
After tonight's game, the Golden Knights will be on the road for two matchups against the Anaheim Ducks and Utah HC.
Bruce Cassidy ruled Mark Stone out for tonight, but not for the upcoming road trip. Said off the top of his head he thinks Stone will be on it, but not positive yet.

Stone's current injury adds to the long list of ailments he's picked up during his tenure with the Golden Knights. Cassidy's optimism about the length of Stone's injury is encouraging considering Stone is on pace to set career highs in multiple statistical categories. With six goals and 21 points to start the season, the Winnipeg, MB native is arguably the team's MVP so far.
Stone's offense and defensive abilities will both be greatly missed tonight against a fast Hurricanes team. His ability to make clean stick checks and clog up passing lanes in all three zones is vital and without it, the Golden Knights will be in tough as they attempt to improve to 9-0-0 at home.
