Golden Knights Captain Considered Day-To-Day After Missing Friday's Overtime Loss To The Kraken

Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone is considered day-to-day after missing Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken.

Stone played the entire game against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday but when he was sealing the game with an empty netter, he had a grimace on his face. Stone was in a lot of discomfort on the bench following the goal and couldn't dress against the Kraken for what's being called a lower-body injury.

Following Friday's game, HC Bruce Cassidy spoke to the media to provide an update on the health of Stone.

"I don't have much other than, he missed tonight's game, we travel back home, he'll see our doctors there, we'll get a much better read on that."

Replacing Stone in the lineup was 25-year-old Jonas Rondbjerg. He played just 5:16 and was unable to record any points or shots. Through seven AHL games with the Henderson Silver Knights, Rondbjerg has found the back of the net twice and added two assists.

With Stone out, the Golden Knights switched their lines in hopes of someone stepping up. The player who stepped up was Nicolas Roy, the man who took Stone's spot on the top line. The 27-year-old recorded a season-high in ice-time, 20:36, and scored a goal and an assist, both in the first period. He looked comfortable playing alongside Ivan Barbashev and Jack Eichel and did everything the team asked him to do.

The Golden Knights are off until Monday when they return home to take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Their return home will hopefully be greeted by the return of Ilya Samsonov and Stone.
