Golden Knights AHL Affiliate Sign Former First-Round Pick

The Vegas Golden Knights AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights, has signed former first-round pick Lucas Johansen to an AHL contract.

The Washington Capitals selected the 6'2 "defenseman in the 2016 NHL draft. He went on to play just nine games with the franchise, recording two assists. He's been a mainstay with the Hershey Bears, playing 257 games, scoring 20 goals and 92 points. He's been part of the Bears' back-to-back Calder Cup wins.

He was also a WHL champion with the Kelowna Rockets' where he was a prominent member of their blue line.

The 26-year-old is the brother of NHLer Ryan Johansen and was a former teammate of current Silver Knight Mason Morelli.

According to the Silver Knights' press release, Johansen will join the team immediately and wear number 29.
