A prestigious recognition for Inter's President and CEO of Sport, Giuseppe Marotta, who received the CONI Golden Star for Sporting Merit on Thursday 11 July. This honour was awarded for his long and successful career as an executive, crowned by the league title won by Inter last season. Since his arrival at Inter, the club has won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia's, and three Supercoppa Italiana's, in addition to reaching the Europa League final in 2020 and the Champions League final in 2023.

The ceremony took place in Rome at the CONI Hall of Honor, attended by President Giovanni Malagò, who presented the award to Giuseppe Marotta. The Stella al Merito Sportivo is one of the four sports honours conferred by the CONI National Council to reward athletes, executives, coaches, and organizations that have brought prestige to Italian sports through their activities.

The honour was established on 20 December 1933, to reward the presidents of sports federations who have distinguished themselves over a biennium through international achievements. The Stella al Merito Sportivo comes in three grades: gold, silver, and bronze. The Golden Star can be awarded to sports personalities who have long served sports with notable dedication and positive intent.
