Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini gave a lengthy interview to Sky Sport on his 60th birthday.

The Giallorossi skipper retraced his career and spoke about the current situation of the capital club.

“I arrived in the first team in an era that wasn’t great, but I didn’t lose heart, we rolled up our sleeves and tried to best represent the value of the team. Rome is not easy, I have seen many champions, some have blossomed elsewhere.”

“I always wore that shirt, number 10, with great pride and with my head held high, it was my way of playing and living, always clear and linear. I met great champions, like Antognoni who was in his thirties, Platini, Boniek, Zico, van Basten. I have to be honest, I have had important teammates in many battles. We had fun, I’m happy about it.”

“I won the Italian Cup three times, an Austrian Cup and an Austrian Super Cup, I participated from afar in the 1983 scudetto, I had to play the last match and I didn’t because I was at a tournament with the national under 16.”

“I have experienced beautiful moments, some finals, some semi-finals, some qualifications achieved. What matters is the way in which you entered the pitch.”

“De Rossi? “Daniele is a pupil of mine, I have always appreciated him, as I appreciate all those who take the Giallorossi shirt and environment to heart. He is an intelligent man, he entered on tiptoe without having much experience behind him.”

“Daniele knows the walls of Trigoria better than anyone. Daniele must be respected and supported.”

“Dybala? “If there was a scoring opportunity on Sunday, he created it. His value to the team is absolute, he is a protagonist who should always be kept, I would always keep him.”

“There are other things, other dynamics in a club that must be respected. I hope he stays in Rome, seeing him together with Soulé and Pellegrini is something wonderful, I would hope he stays.”
