Girona uninterested in signing out-of-favour Barcelona midfield prospect

Girona uninterested in signing out-of-favour Barcelona midfield prospect

As reported earlier this week, Barcelona midfield prospect Pablo Torre has no place in new manager Hansi Flick’s plans at the club and a solution for his exit is being sought.

The 21-year-old midfielder spent the last season away on loan at Girona where he endured a mixed campaign, showing bursts of his potential without being able to establish himself in Michel’s team.

Torre is back at Barça for the pre-season but does not have an immediate future at the club and as such another exit, on loan or permanent, is being looked into.

Reports suggested that Girona could be open to re-signing him while the player himself was said to look at that option favourably.

Girona not interested

However, now, according to journalist Adrian Sanchez, Girona have no interest in re-signing Pablo Torre from Barcelona this summer.

The Catalan outfit, who will be playing Champions League football next season, have shown zero keenness in having the 21-year-old midfield prospect back in their squad for the next campaign.

Torre made 29 appearances for Girona in the 2023/24 season, registering a tally of one goal and two assists in the process.

As mentioned earlier, the former Racing Santander starlet was unable to establish himself in the lineup at Girona and they do not consider taking him back.

What next for Pablo Torre?

As of now, Torre is back at Barcelona and is doing pre-season with the first-team setup under Hansi Flick and is waiting to find out what will happen to him in the coming days.

The 21-year-old has previously been linked with lower-division clubs, with Real Zaragoza one such team to have shown interest in the past.
