Gimme him: One player the Bears would steal from the Texans

The Chicago Bears (1-0) will look to improve to 2-0 on the 2024 NFL season, but it will be no easy task when they hit the road to face the Houston Texans (1-0) on Sunday Night Football.

Last year's darling surprise team led by both the offensive and defensive Rookies of the Year award winners in C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., are clearly on the rise. Only the fourth time in NFL history have teammates won the Rookie of the Year award on both sides of the ball, and the Texans franchise has shown to have rebuilt quickly after trading away Deshaun Watson for a draft haul.

As they also try to rebuild their franchise from the ground up, there are similarities between Houston and Chicago's remodel, except the Texans made the playoffs last year and the Bears are hoping to do so in 2024. Coming into their prime-time matchup, Chicago's Caleb Williams and Houston's Stroud will steal the headlines and talking points, but Houston has plenty to make note of. One of those players, Anderson, the reigning DPOY, is someone certainly who would be welcomed with opened arms to Chicago.

In 15 games during his rookie year, Anderson racked up 45 tackles, 22 quarterback hits, and 7.0 sacks, making himself an absolute game-wrecker under head coach DeMeco Ryans. While he didn't reach double-digit sacks that may jump off the paper, if Anderson was on the Bears last year, he would've led the team in sacks on the year, even over Pro Bowler Montez Sweat.

One of the biggest questions coming into the season was who would be the pass rusher opposite of Sweat, and Anderson would feel to be the perfect complement on the defensive line. Newcomer Darrell Taylor had a great debut with two sacks after being traded for late in the preseason, but consistency will be key.

With DeMarcus Walker, Daniel Hardy, and Taylor all brought in to try and stand out, the team is throwing darts at the wall hoping to find a running mate opposite of Sweat. That wouldn't be needed if someone like Anderson was on this Bears defense, which has proven it can carry the team to victories.
