I get it, Giants.

I get benching Daniel Jones this year. I get making him the QB3 or QB4 for games going forward so he doesn't get hurt due to a $23 million injury guarantee this offseason. I even get playing Tommy DeVito to tank for the 2025 NFL Draft

But what they had Jones do on Thursday? I don't get it, and it's downright shameful.

Per reports from beat writers, Daniel Jones was out there playing SAFETY FOR THE SCOUT TEAM? WHY?

This isn't on Jones. He's being a good dude, a team player who is showing up and doing what he's told, which in turn will help him with his next job. But why would the Giants assign him to scout team duty ON DEFENSE when they're avoiding injury and when he doesn't play safety usually?

This is an embarrassment, right up there with that time they benched Eli Manning in 2017. Their handling of bringing in DeVito over usual backup Drew Lock is similarly bad, one that free agents will take note of.

The franchise has a lot of thinking to do in the offseason, and moments like this need to be learning experiences.
