‘Giant in every sense’ – National media blown away by 8/10 Newcastle ace after what he did v Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United headed confidently to the final international break of the season after beating Nottingham Forest 3-1 in Sunday’s Premier League game. 

The Magpies looked in trouble after Murillo nodded home the opener after 21 minutes. 

However, Eddie Howe’s men came out with renewed energy after half-time and restored parity within nine minutes of the re-start. 

Alexander Isak smashed the equaliser before setting up Joelinton for another, who curled in from the edge of the box. 

Harvey Barnes added a late third as Newcastle picked up their third consecutive win in all competitions. 

National media hailed the visitors’ performance at the City Ground but they were hugely impressed with Dan Burn. 

The Daily Mail called the 32-year-old a ‘giant in every sense’ and said the free-scoring Chris Wood was cut down to size by him. 

The centre-back’s display earned him 8/10 rating, with only Joelinton receiving a higher number. 

Burn also posted impressive numbers in the match, but the bad news is he will have to sit out Newcastle’s next home fixture against West Ham United after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season. 

The experienced defender had 71 touches, completing 55 of his 62 passes (89 percent). 

He won seven of his eight aerial duels and also had a shot on target. 

The 32-year-old lost the ball seven times but registered six clearances. 

Burn has been one of the key members of Eddie Howe’s team this season, starting all 11 Premier League matches so far.
