Gervon Dexter received high praise from a former Bears star defender

In his second season with the Chicago Bears, defensive tackle Gervon Dexter has shown growth in leaps and bounds through just two games.

Dexter, who has five tackles, two of which are for losses, three quarterback hits, and two sacks on the season, is not only getting recognition from his teammates and peers league wide, but he's also getting praise from a former Bear at the same position.

After Dexter responded to an X (formerly Twitter) user posting his game film against the Houston Texans offensive line, former Bears defensive tackle Akiem Hicks responded by praising Dexter and the skills he has shown in just a short period of time. After Dexter would say that he likes his chances against opposing offensive lines, Hicks noted the "dog" that the second-year pro has in his game.

Showing gratitude and respect hearing from Hicks, Dexter would let him know how much it meant to him to receive the praise of a man who was beloved by the city of Chicago and played his position very well.

If Dexter can take anything from Hicks' time with the Bears it's that if he shows up to play, leaves it all on the field, and makes big plays when given the opportunity, the city, and the franchise will fully embrace him. He's got plenty of momentum to begin the 2024 season, and he'll look to continue it Week 3 on the road against the Indianapolis Colts and their strong offensive line.
