The return of Yann Bisseck from injury has made Inter Milan believe that they do not need to sign a defender in the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have had something of a defensive injury crisis in recent weeks.

The likes of Francesco Acerbi and Benjamin Pavard were both on the sidelines for several weeks. In the case of Acerbi, the 36-year-old has not played since November.

Meanwhile, Bisseck has also missed a few matches this month due to a thigh problem.

Yann Bisseck Return Means Inter Milan Won’t Sign A Defender In January

With all of these injuries, Inter did reportedly consider dipping into the transfer market this month.

The Nerazzurri are not keen to make a midseason signing. But if they had felt that they were lacking defensive depth, they could have made an emergency signing.

However, that is not Inter’s strategy.

The Nerazzurri are instead intending to wait until the summer. Then, they will sign a defender to be a long-term replacement for Acerbi.

However, the conditions to make a signing this month would be far from ideal. Therefore, rushing into an emergency signing is not what Inter want to do.

And in the meantime, Yann Bisseck is back to fitness. The German will be available against Lecce tomorrow.

Inter believe that Bisseck is a player capable of playing anywhere across the back three.

Therefore, for now at least, the defensive depth is adequate.
