Generals Put An End To Knights' Winning Streak

Oshawa brought an end to London's 19-game win streak by defeating them 5-3 on Friday night.

This game couldn't have been scripted any better. In the first meeting between London and Oshawa since the two met in the OHL Finals last spring London had the opportunity to win their twentieth consecutive game.

Early in the game, it looked like London was pulling away. Senators prospect Blake Montgomery scored on a slick feed from Will Nichol on a two-on-one.

Then Easton Cowan scored on the powerplay to extend his regular season point streak to 56 games while making it 2-0.

Early in the second period, Will Nicholl capitalized on an errant pass and scored on a breakaway to make it 3-0 for London. With three unanswered goals it looked like London would cruise to victory.

However, Luca Marrelli took advantage of a 4-on-3 power play to fire a puck from the slot past goaltender Aleksei Medvedev. From then on Oshawa took control of the game.

Minutes later Colby Barlow tipped Beckett Sennecke's shot into the back of the net to draw within one of London.

In the third period, Oshawa scored three more goals courtesy of Tyler Graham, Ben Danford and Beckett Sennecke.

On the final goal of the game, Sennecke slipped the puck between his own legs and jumped around Sam Dickinson before firing the puck into the back of the net.

The five unanswered goals lifted Oshawa past London while ensuring London's winning streak would not reach 20 games.

Oshawa showed a lot of grit and determination in the game. Despite going down early in the game, they fought back and scored five goals against one of the top teams in the league.

While it was a team effort, Oshawa's star players really stood out in this game. Anaheim Ducks prospect Beckett Sennecke had a goal and two assists. Colby Barlow registered a goal and an assist, and Luca Marrelli added a goal and two helpers as well.

The first rematch between last year's finalists lived up to expectations. It was a dramatic gamed filled with twists and turns. There will be a long wait before the two teams meet again in March.
