AC Milan have the opportunity to sign Yusuf Yazici for free this summer and he is a player that Paulo Fonseca is known to admire from their time together at Lille.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turkish forward has been released by Lille at the end of his contract which means he could be an opportunistic signing for the Rossoneri.

Links have been made in the past and he performed well in 2023/24 under Fonseca’s guidance, He played 42 matches across all competitions and became very important, scoring 12 goals and getting four assists.

Given there would be no transfer fee to pay, the potential to sign him as a versatile depth option is attractive.

Yazici has been used as an attacking midfielder, a right winger, a central midfielder and a striker in the past two seasons with Lille and Trabzonspor, so he is exactly the sort of player who can be of use during a long season where there are plenty of games.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already spoken of ‘seizing opportunities on the market’ during the summer and given some of the other attacking targets are now not available, Yazici could fit into that category. At 27 years old, he is not an ageing player either.
