GdS: Terracciano tipped to replace suspended Theo – why it is a big opportunity
During the international break one of the things that Paulo Fonseca will have to decide is who will replace Theo Hernandez as the left-back during his two-games suspension in the league.
According to what is being reported this morning by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Portuguese coach is currently picking between Filippo Terracciano, Alex Jimenez and Davide Bartesaghi, at least while waiting for Davide Calabria to return given he can fill in on the other flank.
At the moment Terracciano should take the place of Theo in Milan’s next two league matches against Udinese at home and Bologna away, although last-minute surprises cannot be ruled out. It must be remembered that he started the away game against Lazio when the Frenchman was not 100%.
If it is to be Terracciano, then it will be an important opportunity for the Italian full-back to show what he can do. The same attacking prowess as Theo is not expected, but a solid defensive performance that is enough to cover Rafael Leao’s runs would tick enough boxes.
Terracciano almost has nothing to lose: if the games against Udinese and Bologna go badly, he would return to the anonymity of the bench but if he were to impress than it could fix an issue in view of the January window.
