AC Milan will begin their preseason on Monday and the management want to have a new signing through the door before then, a report claims.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) this morning, Milan have received the approval of Emerson Royal after recent contacts between the club and the entourage of the Brazilian, who confirmed his desire to join.

It is seen as an opportunity to relaunch for the full-back, who last season spent more time on the bench than on the field under Ange Postecouglou. The Milan management have put on the table a five-year contract worth €3m net per season.

Milan have never had any real competitors as only Villarreal showed a timid interest in Roya, but the possibility of playing in the Champions League, the prestige of the Rossoneri and the desire to bounce back convinced Emerson right from the start.

Now Milan will have to talk to Tottenham to try to strike a deal but there is still a gap between the sides because the offer is €15m and the demand is €25m. The Rossoneri hope to be able to negotiate and find a meeting point at €18-20m, bonuses included.

Spurs could drop lower though, because they purchased Emerson from Barcelona in 2021 for €25m and even with a lower transfer fee the London club would therefore be able to make a capital gain. The ideal scenario is to gibe Emerson Royal to Fonseca on the first day of camp.
