Yahoo Sports GdS: ‘Reijnders does it all’ – Milan plot renewal after another crucial goal
Tijjani Reijnders picked up where he left off in the game against Club Brugge by scoring an important goal that proved to be match-winning.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write this morning, Reijnders scored a brace in his last game against Club Brugge and then served a suspension on Tuesday night against Napoli, also due to the postponement of the match against Bologna.
Yesterday’s performance fuelled further regrets about not having him for that defeat, because some are certain that with him on the pitch the game could have gone differently against the league leaders.
Reijnders is showing himself to be a playmaker, attacking midfielder and now also a goalscorer, given that the last three goals scored by Milan this season have come from the Dutchman. He is a ‘jack of all trades’ and perhaps the only player who we could say is seriously benefiting from Paulo Fonseca’s coaching.
The numbers speak for themselves: with last night’s goal, the former AZ Alkmaar man has scored three goals this season so far, one less than in the entirety of last season. In short, Reijnders is raising the pace and keeps proving himself to be a player that cannot be done without.

The day after the defeat against Napoli, Frank Rijkaard returned to visit Milanello and was photographed speaking to his compatriot Reijnders. His goal last night was very reminiscent of Rijkaard’s in the Intercontinental Final against Olimpia Asuncion in 1990.
The club are evaluating the possibility of extending his contract until 2030 with a salary doubled compared to the €1.6m he currently receives, amid the rumours of interest from abroad.
