GdS: ‘The music has changed’ – Conceicao adopts tough approach with Milan squad

It is very clear from the early signs of Sergio Conceicao’s time as AC Milan boss that he will be demanding of the squad, as further clues showed yesterday.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Conceicao had the team do a double training session on the eve of the game against Juventus. He had the team out on the practice field at 11:00 in the morning, and they will train again this afternoon.

Conceiçao has begun his time at Milan in his own way: a clear, tough, edgy approach. On the first day he had the team train in the evening, under the floodlights, and it was a long workout, not a walk in the park.

In the first training session in Saudi Arabia, some people noticed that all the players were wearing shin guards. In other words, there will be no kidding around.

Now, the double session proves a desire to leave an early mark: with Stefano Pioli and Paulo Fonseca – but also with 99% of other coaches – the idea of doing a double session the day before a game is virtually unthinkable.

The need to quickly get to know the team is obviously part of the decision: every minute is useful to understand the players, send messages to the team and choose the team that he will play in the semi-final.

However light the two sessions may be, however, the change is a sign of discontinuity. The Milan group has already understood from the first days that Conceiçao has strong demands, asks for a lot and if necessary in a strong way.

It is logical to expect differences on the pitch too: a more physical, combative team, with a coach who challenges the players to be more aggressive and to refuse to lose. 2025, whether it goes well or badly, will not be a copy of 2024.
