AC Milan managed to claim all three points against Udinese on Saturday evening, despite playing with ten men from the 30th minute. As highlighted by Gazzetta dello Sport, quite a few players were decisive for the Rossoneri, while others could have done better.

The pink newspaper has assessed the individual performances (see photo below) and while it was a hard-fought win, some players could have done better. Compared to our player ratings, it’s safe to say that the newspaper was more harsh.

Youssouf Fofana was named the best with a 7/10 rating, acting like a true leader for Milan in the defensive phase. He was everywhere and especially before the red card, we saw his abilities in possession (he couldn’t be dispossessed).

Tijjani Reijnders was the flop of the match, inevitably as the newspaper puts it, with a 5/10 rating. It was an involuntary foul and the referee’s assessment can be discussed, but there was contact and it changed the game for Milan.

Paulo Fonseca, meanwhile, was given a 6.5/10 for his bold XI choices that paid off. Below, we have collected the full list of Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings for the game.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s ratings

7: Youssouf Fofana, Samuel Chukwueze.

6.5: Mike Maignan, Malick Thiaw, Strahinja Pavlovic, Christian Pulisic, Noah Okafor.

6: Alvaro Morata, Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

5.5: Emerson Royal, Filippo Terracciano.
