The 2024 summer transfer window officially began yesterday and Rafael Leao’s release clause is therefore now active, but AC Milan are reportedly calm about his future.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report, the €175m release clause in Leao’s contract can now be triggered by any club who has the financial capabilities to do so, but for the moment there is nothing to worry about because he is not for sale.

Milan are rather calm about the future of the winger and meeting in Portugal’s training camp in Germany between the player and the new coach Paulo Fonseca confirms that the Rossoneri want to bet on him and have no intention of letting him go.

In the transfer market, however, the rule of ‘never say never’ applies, especially in light of the interest from Saudi clubs. Leao’s father, Antonio, has appointed a trusted intermediary to better investigate the matter, even if it will be very difficult to present a proposal that will tease the player and convince Milan.

A small door must be left open in the event of ‘madness’ on the part of a top European club, with Paris Saint-Germain – who lost Kylian Mbappe – a potential suitor, even if they seem to prefer Kvaratskhelia.
