GdS: Dreaming of a first trophy – Cardinale has Supercoppa Italiana in his sights
Gerry Cardinale’s tenure as AC Milan’s owner has been rocky so far, and there is hope that things can begin to turn at the start of 2025.
Cardinale arrived after the Scudetto, and since then, the club have not tasted any silverware. In fact, it could be argued that times have been rather hard since the American took over the club, but he hopes to turn the tide.
The Serie A title can be written off, and whilst the club remain in the Champions League, any dreams of lifting the trophy are not on the table currently. This then leaves the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, the latter of which takes place at the start of next month.
As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, the owner dreams of a better Milan and 2025 can be the start of this, and as Milan News relays, Cardinale has asked ‘expressly asked’ his side to bring home the trophy. Not only would it be a welcomed addition to the trophy cabinet, but it would also provide an opportunity to instil faith in the set-up.
Of course, winning a four-team competition will not be the difference between having fans on board and not, however, it would, perhaps, represent a sign of things to come and this can only be seen as progress.
