Former Manchester United defender turned Sky Sports pundit has admitted that he never expected one Chelsea player to become so good.

Neville has also admitted that he was surprised when Chelsea made this signing, as were a lot of people at the time.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea exploring new goalkeepers and centre backs – BIG names REVEALED!!!

I remember actually being one of the few that were 100% fully excited when I heard Chelsea were signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City. He is a player I had been watching closely from doing other scouting missions, and I knew that he had something special in him, and so did Chelsea it seems.

Many Chelsea fans were underwhelmed by the signing, and they couldn’t understand why we were paying so much for a player who ‘Pep Guardiola let go’. But the reality of course has been very different and Palmer is now probably worth at least double what we paid City for him a short time ago!

Everyone has now been consistently raving about Palmer as he has been consistently putting in top performances and smashing goals and assists records all over the place.

Neville speaks on Palmer

Palmer is exceptional

Speaking this week, Neville said on Palmer:

“Exceptional talent, beautiful to watch. £40 million. I think at the time I didn’t question him coming to Chelsea; I questioned them signing another wide player. They’d signed Mudryk and all those players, Madueke, and you’re thinking how many more do they need to sign of this type? What he’s gone on to become, no one could ever have expected, and I certainly didn’t; he’s exceptional. To get that level of precision and class and the final pass, the right touch in someone whose only really two years in doing this is amazing!”

Always good to admit when you’re wrong, Nev!
