Head coach John Tortorella confirmed that Sam Ersson will start tonight, marking a significant moment for the young netminder. After an injury scare against the San Jose Sharks on New Year's Eve, Ersson’s return carries a sense of anticipation—not just for his individual performance but for what his presence means to the team.

Tortorella has emphasized that Ersson is healthy, noting that "he would not be playing if the trainers hadn't cleared him." As the undisputed starter for the Flyers when he's available, Tortorella also highlighted that the team doesn't fear that the 24-year-old is "injury-prone," given that the ones he's unfortunately dealt with season are the first he's had to deal with in years.

"He probably had one of his better games in over a month [during the Flyers' Jan. 7 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs], [but] gets nothing," Tortorella said. "He was involved; his legs were there...And that is gonna happen. I'm gonna tell you right now, the second half of the year, it's going to happen. [We] are certainly going to be cognizant of how we can help him in that way."

Michkov’s ability to read the game and create opportunities for his linemates has been evident in recent performances. He’s demonstrated poise with the puck, a willingness to engage physically when needed, and an unrelenting drive to make something happen every time he’s on the ice.

While the Flyers would undoubtedly benefit from Michkov converting some of those chances into goals or assists, his presence alone is indicative of a larger truth: he’s an impactful player who is only going to get better. Against a disciplined Stars team, Michkov’s creativity could be key in unlocking scoring opportunities.

Playing Assertively, But Just Need to Finish
