Three storylines for Chiefs vs. Lions
Will we see the deep passes?
Specifically, will we see Patrick Mahomes establish a connection with rookie speedster Xavier Worthy? The NFL Combine 40-yard dash record-setter could be in line for some additional early work after an injury suffered by Hollywood Brown in the first preseason game.
Also of note: Justyn Ross is pushing for a roster spot after a productive camp. The receivers are certainly a position to watch.
A quarter (or half?) for Patrick Mahomes?
Andy Reid said this week he expects the ones to play the first half, but history says you can usually take Reid’s projection and cut it in half. For example, the ones were set to play the first quarter of the first preseason game ... and Mahomes didn’t even make it five minutes.
How about Carson Steele?
You won’t learn a whole lot from the preseason, especially with a team like the Chiefs. But Carson Steele continues to be a name to watch, and he came up once again in our writers’ pregame roundtable. The star of the preseason opener, Steele is spending more time with the starters and could help shore up KC’s running back position ... if he can keep stacking good days.

Casual looks for pregame: No special suits for preseason game No. 2, but Travis Kelce had some nods to the Chicago Bulls/Michael Jordan with his attire.
