Game #35: Ducks vs. Oilers Gameday Preview

The Ducks are right back it with another matinee matchup for the second consecutive day. This is their first time playing the Edmonton Oilers this season.

The Oilers are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss yesterday against the Los Angeles Kings, while the Ducks are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

“(The Oilers have) got players on that team that if you give them those (offensive) situations, they'll score,” Troy Terry said. Terry scored the Ducks’ lone goal in their loss to the Flyers. “(We need to) be a little more aware of those (players), especially (Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl) that we're playing tomorrow.”

With Stuart Skinner getting the start for Edmonton yesterday in Los Angeles, the expectation is that Calvin Pickard will start against the Ducks.

Lukáš Dostál got the start for Anaheim in the game against the Flyers and may be pressed into double duty once again after essentially playing both ends of the back-to-back last week after John Gibson took a stick to the eye.

Gibson is currently ill and did not dress for the game against the Flyers, with Calle Clang being recalled from AHL San Diego to back up Dostál. If Gibson is unable to go, Dostál will likely start again instead of having Clang make his NHL debut in a baptism of fire against the high-octane Oilers offense.

This game also marks Adam Henrique’s return to Anaheim after he was traded to the Oilers last season. Henrique spent parts of seven seasons with the Ducks.
